Joshua Newman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics & International Relations at Monash University's School of Social Sciences. His research focuses on public policy decision-making mechanisms, policy design, and the interactions between governments and private sectors. He holds a BA from Concordia University, a BEng from McGill University, an MA from Queen's University, and a PhD from Simon Fraser University.
His research interests include policy networks, public-private partnerships, evidence-based policy, and climate governance. He has led projects on housing policy administration, disaster response under climate change, and regulatory frameworks. Newman is actively involved in supervising PhD students and contributes to policy analysis in multi-level governance systems.
Recent projects include evaluating government machinery for housing policies and assessing climate change impacts on military resources. His work addresses interdisciplinary collaboration challenges, research impact strategies, and the ethical use of AI in policy analysis.
