Professor Megan Bowman is a full Professor of Law and founding Director of the King’s Centre for Climate Law & Governance at King’s College London. She leads the King's/UNEP partnership on Legal Readiness for Climate Finance and advises governments/private sectors on Paris Agreement implementation. She holds a Visiting Professorship in EU Company Law at Université de Paris-Dauphine and is a Legal Research Fellow at CISDL.
Education: Double Bachelor’s (Arts/Law, Monash), LLM (Comparative Law, McGill), PhD (Regulatory Theory, Australian National University). Former academic roles include positions at McGill University, UNSW Australia, Monash University, and Victoria Law School.
Research focuses on climate finance regulation, corporate accountability, and justice in sustainability transitions. Key grants include a Leverhulme Fellowship (2020-2022) and a King’s Sustainability Seed Grant (2023-2024). Awards include the 2023 Supervisory Excellence Award and Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Award (2008).
Teaches Green Finance, Climate Law, and EU Company Law. Her work influences IPCC reports and UN regulatory frameworks, and her book Banking on Climate Change (2015) is a landmark text in climate finance studies.
