Joshua Myers is an Associate Professor of Africana Studies at Howard University's College of Arts & Sciences. His work focuses on intellectual histories, critical university studies, and the Black radical tradition. He authored Of Black Study (2023), Cedric Robinson: The Time of the Black Radical Tradition (2021), and We Are Worth Fighting For (2019), documenting student protests and African diaspora thought.
Education: Ph.D. in African American Studies from Temple University (2013). His research integrates philosophy, music, and foodways to explore transformative knowledge systems. Myers co-coordinates the SNCC Legacy Project's oral history initiatives and serves on editorial boards for journals like The Compass.
His scholarship emphasizes Africana traditions as tools for societal transformation, blending historical analysis with contemporary activism. Current projects include digital archiving of Black movement legacies and critical studies of academic institutions.
