Joshua G. Stein is a Professor at Woodbury University's School of Architecture. He founded Radical Craft, a studio exploring experimental design through digital techniques applied to ceramic materials and urban spaces. Co-director of the Data Clay Network, his work bridges history, archaeology, and craft to address globalization's challenges. He co-edited Dingbat 2.0, a seminal work on Los Angeles apartment buildings.
- Education: M.Arch from UCLA, B.A. in French from University of Wisconsin–Madison
Research focuses on digital fabrication in ceramics, urban artifact production, and the intersection of virtuality and material culture. Awards include the Rome Prize Fellowship and AIA Upjohn Award. Former LA Forum Board member and adjunct faculty at CCA, Cornell, SCI-Arc, and Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.
Grants: Multiple Graham Foundation grants. Current initiatives include advancing experimental design practices through interdisciplinary collaboration.
