Dr. Joshua Anderson serves as an Associate Professor of Clarinet at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Music and holds the role of Principal Clarinet with the Reno Philharmonic. A globally active performer and advocate for contemporary music, he has performed across Europe, Asia, and North America, appearing at venues like Carnegie Hall and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music’s He Luting Concert Hall. His career is marked by collaborations with renowned artists and organizations, including the Four Corners Ensemble and the Operation Opera Festival.

Research and Teaching: Dr. Anderson is a leading figure in advancing contemporary clarinet repertoire, having commissioned over 100 works by living composers. His pedagogical contributions include authoring The Clarinet Studio Companion and New 32, a collection of clarinet etudes. He also directs programming for the Four Corners Ensemble, fostering cross-cultural artistic exchange through performances in New York and beyond.
Professional Engagement: He has adjudicated national and international competitions, including the Nevada All-State and Beijing Conservatory’s China Youth Competition. In 2022, he hosted the International Clarinet Association Conference in Reno. A member of American Mensa, he maintains leadership roles in music organizations.
