Joshua A. Mayo is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of English at Grove City College. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Literature from the University of Dallas, an M.A. in English from the University of Mississippi, and a B.A. in English from Grove City College. His expertise spans Rhetoric & Composition, Poetics, Shakespeare, and British Literature. Mayo teaches courses such as English Literature Survey, Civilization & Literature, and Foundations of Academic Discourse.
His research and publications reflect a focus on the intersection of rhetoric, humanities, and quantitative methods in literary analysis. Recent works include critiques on higher education policies, the preservation of humanistic values, and metaphorical language in literature. Mayo’s writing has appeared in journals like Salvo, First Things, and Touchstone.
Outside academia, Mayo enjoys running, biking, sketching, watercolor painting, family activities, and music.
