Josh Sumpter is a Lecturer in the Department of Humanities at Waynesburg University where he also serves as the University Chaplain. He teaches courses including Introduction to New Testament, Youth Ministry, and Teaching the Bible. He holds a B.A. in Religion from Ashland University, an M.Div. from Ashland Theological Seminary, and an M.Ed. from Waynesburg University.
His research focuses on Christian ministry education with specific interests in biblical teaching methodologies, youth ministry frameworks, and theological pedagogy. His work integrates practical ministry experience with academic instruction.
In 2018-2019, he received the Lucas-Hathaway Teaching Excellence Award for Introductory Subjects. He actively mentors students in ministry careers and maintains regional speaking engagements at Christian camps and churches.
As Chaplain, he participates in campus life through athletic events and student mentorship programs, fostering spiritual development within the university community.
