Josh Robinson is a Senior Lecturer in the School of English, Communication and Philosophy at Cardiff University, specializing in literary theory, poetics, and critical philosophy. Their research focuses on the relationship between literature and knowledge, with particular expertise in the critique of political economy and the analysis of poetic innovation and experimentation. They work primarily on twentieth-century and contemporary poetry, examining how close attention to poetry reveals the categories underpinning dominant narratives of modernism and modernity.
- Senior Lecturer, School of English, Communication and Philosophy, Cardiff University (2013-present)

Robinson's research brings literary and philosophical scrutiny to bear on the concepts and categories with which we think, argue and explain. Their monograph, Adorno's Poetics of Form (SUNY Press, 2018) reveals tensions in the concept of literary form and how it functions as a bridge between literary works and the worlds they interact with. They have theorized the intersection of philosophical speculation with the economic crisis since 2008-09, and examined the increasing conceptual weight carried by the term 'poetics'.
Robinson's recent publications demonstrate a consistent scholarly trajectory exploring mediation theory, Marxist critique of value, and experimental poetics. Their work bridges Frankfurt School critical theory with contemporary poetic practice, particularly in examining how literary form engages with economic and social structures. The publications span literary criticism, philosophical analysis, and Marxist theory, with significant contributions to journals like The Year's Work in Critical and Cultural Theory.
