Marc Robinson is the Dean of Humanities and Malcolm G. Chace ‘56 Professor of Theater, Dance, & Performance Studies and English at Yale University. He also holds the title of Professor in the Practice of Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism at the David Geffen School of Drama. His research focuses on American theater history, LGBTQ drama, and performance studies, with a particular emphasis on marginalized voices and cultural narratives.
Robinson’s scholarly contributions include seminal works such as The American Play: 1787-2000 (2009) and Adrienne Kennedy: Collected Plays and Other Writings (2023). He has been honored with the George Jean Nathan Award, Lambda Literary Award, and Betty Jean Jones Award for teaching excellence. His edited volumes explore experimental theater, queer performance, and exilic literature.
As a fellow of the New York Institute for the Humanities, Robinson bridges academic and practical theater education, advocating for interdisciplinary approaches to dramatic criticism and performance theory.
