Dr. Josh P. Armstrong is an Associate Professor of Organizational Leadership and Director of the Comprehensive Leadership Program (CLP) at Gonzaga University. He holds a Ph.D. in Education and Leadership from Michigan State University, a Master's in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of Vermont, and a B.A. in Psychology from Whitworth College.
His research focuses on intercultural competency, storytelling in leadership, adaptive leadership, and experiential education. He leads leadership training programs for students and community/business leaders in Spokane and has extensive community involvement, including board roles with Habitat for Humanity-Spokane, Camp Spalding, Krista Foundation for Global Citizenship, and Pivot Spokane.
Armstrong has authored/co-authored articles exploring leadership pedagogy, cheating behaviors in students, and narrative techniques in leadership education. Notably, his work emphasizes transformative learning through storytelling and intentional emergence in educational settings. Over nearly 20 summers, he leads a transformative study abroad program in Zambia.
While no formal scientific awards are listed, his contributions to leadership education and community engagement highlight his impactful career. His advising and program development efforts are central to his role at Gonzaga, supported by his passion for experiential learning and servant leadership principles.
