Josh Greenberg

Josh Greenberg is Professor of Communication and Media Studies and Associate Dean (Research & Graduate) in the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs at Carleton University, based in the School of Journalism and Communication. His work bridges health risk communication and cultural studies of sound.

Greenberg's research focuses on media representations of infectious disease outbreaks, public risk perceptions of vaccination, and risk communication strategies by public health organizations. His recent expansion into vinyl music culture examines collectors, pressing companies, and record stores, revealing connections between materiality, memory, and ritual in contemporary media consumption. This dual expertise positions him at the intersection of crisis communication and cultural studies.

His publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to health communication (particularly measles outbreaks and vaccine hesitancy) and emerging work in sound studies. The trajectory shows increasing interdisciplinary reach, connecting traditional health risk frameworks with cultural analysis of media materiality.
