Josephine Trowsdale is a Senior Lecturer in Education, Childhood and Professional Studies at Newman University. Her professional background includes secondary teaching, teacher education, and leadership roles in educational initiatives such as the Warwick PGCE Drama with English program and the national Creative Partnerships programme (2002-2011). She currently leads the Masters in Education (on-campus pathway) and focuses her research on arts-integrated learning, particularly in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) education.
Her research emphasizes the role of art-making practices in fostering interdisciplinary and emotionally resonant learning experiences. She co-convenes the STEAM Education Research network under the British Education Research Association (BERA) and collaborates with cultural organizations like Highly Sprung Performance. Professional memberships include the Society for Research in Higher Education (SRHE) and the Royal Society for the Arts.
Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including Creativity, Arts, and Sociology in Education.
