Josephine Granner, PhD, BSN-RN, is a Research Fellow at Yale University's School of Medicine and the West Haven Department of Veteran's Affairs. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan (2022) and a BSN from Calvin College (2018). Her research focuses on integrating health and social care for childbearing individuals, particularly those with histories of trauma (e.g., PTSD, MDD), to prevent intergenerational trauma transmission. Key projects include the Survivor Moms’ Companion intervention for pregnant/postpartum trauma survivors and collaborations with the VA, Yale Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) to improve perinatal policy and care delivery.
Dr. Granner’s work also addresses new fathers’ mental health and parenting needs, leveraging her prior experience as a trauma-informed birth doula. Her contributions span community-based interventions, nursing mentorship frameworks, and health policy advocacy. Current collaborations emphasize scalable solutions for perinatal care equity and clinician trauma-informed training.
Her educational background and clinical experience underscore her commitment to bridging gaps between research, practice, and policy.
