He holds a PhD in Community Health (1989) and has led research on chemical exposure risks, manganese toxicity, and climate change impacts. He has supervised over 20 students, including Ariane Adam-Poupart and Caroline Muller. His work spans environmental contamination assessment, occupational hazards, and sustainable development.
His research focuses on four core areas: manganese exposure from traffic, beryllium toxicity, nanoparticle metrology, and climate change's effects on workforce health. Notable contributions include studies on e-waste occupational risks and photovoltaic industry health challenges.
Awardees include the 1995 Teaching Excellence Award from Université de Montréal. He spearheaded the Canadian Network of Toxicology Centres and led the Interuniversity Toxicology Center. Current roles include membership in the Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement (BAPE).
