Joseph Salisbury

Joseph Salisbury is a Research Professor at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), affiliated with the Ocean Process Analysis Laboratory (OPAL). His research focuses on coastal biogeochemistry, riverine processes, and the application of remote sensing technologies. He leads the NASA-funded GLIMR mission, a hyperspectral ocean color instrument scheduled for geostationary orbit deployment in 2026. Salisbury holds a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from UNH, along with an M.S. in Leadership/Public Policy and a B.A. in Geology from the University of Southern Maine.

His work integrates satellite data (e.g., ocean color, sea surface temperature) to study coastal carbon dynamics, air-sea interactions, and acidification. Key projects include the Coastal Carbon Group's autonomous data collection in the Gulf of Maine and collaborations with NASA missions like PACE and SBG. He has contributed to datasets like RC4USCoast and developed methods for carbonate system modeling.

Salisbury's research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to coastal zone management, climate change impacts, and the development of advanced monitoring tools.
