Christopher Hunt is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of New Hampshire's Ocean Process Analysis Laboratory. He holds an M.S. in Earth Sciences and a B.S. in Chemistry. His work focuses on coastal and estuarine biogeochemistry, particularly the dynamics of carbon systems and ocean acidification. Hunt has led projects funded by NSF and NERACOOS, including studies on organic alkalinity and sensor-based CO₂ monitoring. His research integrates field observations, sensor technology, and community science to address coastal environmental challenges.
Education: M.S., Earth Sciences (UNH), B.S., Chemistry (Trinity College, Connecticut).
Research interests include coastal acidification, carbonate system modeling, and the development of low-cost monitoring tools. His recent work emphasizes the role of organic alkalinity in estuaries and the adaptation of open-source sensors for stream CO₂ measurement. Publications span marine chemistry, sensor technology, and collaborative environmental monitoring initiatives.
Grants include NSF support for organic alkalinity studies and NERACOOS funding for ocean acidification monitoring. He collaborates widely, with co-authors such as Joseph Salisbury and Douglas Vandemark. Hunt’s contributions bridge laboratory science and practical field applications, advancing understanding of coastal environmental processes.
