Joseph Milluzzo

Professor Joseph Milluzzo is a faculty member in the Aerospace Engineering Department at the United States Naval Academy (USNA). His research focuses on experimental fluid mechanics, particularly the fluid dynamics of rotorcraft wakes and their interaction with ship deck motion. His work addresses critical naval challenges in rotorcraft landing dynamics. Current projects include a five-year grant from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) through the Vertical Lift Research Center of Excellence (VLRCOE), a collaborative government-academia initiative established in 1982.

Research objectives aim to enhance understanding of rotor wake behavior under ship deck motion to develop improved flight dynamics models for simulating rotorcraft operations on moving platforms. This initiative aligns with USNA's broader vertical lift program, integrating research, education, and naval relevance.
