Vrishank Raghav serves as the Walt and Virginia Woltosz Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering within Auburn University's College of Engineering. His research spans interdisciplinary fluid dynamics applications with funding from ARO, AFOSR, VLRCOE, DoD, NSF, NIH, and NASA.
His research focuses on unsteady separated flows over rotating wings, multi-rotor aeromechanics, and bio-inspired fluid systems. Key areas include plume-surface interactions for lunar landings, respiratory disease transmission physics, heart valve flows, and rotorcraft performance in adverse environments. His work bridges aerospace engineering with biomedical applications through experimental techniques.
- Major Funding Sources: NSF, NIH, NASA, Army Research Office, Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR)
- Research Impact: Instrumentation development for rotorcraft, face mask redesign insights, spacecraft landing safety, and expiratory central airway collapse diagnostics
Dr. Raghav directs the Applied Fluids Research Group and has received multiple early-career awards including the prestigious NSF CAREER Award. His team has earned recognition at international conferences like the Australasian Fluid Mechanics Society and American Physical Society events.
He mentors graduate students through projects involving rotating 3D velocimetry, droplet-laden flows, and avian gust interaction biomechanics. Current research initiatives examine infectious disease spread physics and bio-inspired surface textures for flight stability.
