Anthony Comer, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University. His expertise lies in aircraft flight dynamics, rotorcraft control systems, and advanced flight testing methodologies. He holds a Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Auburn University.
- Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Auburn University (2024)
- M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Auburn University (2023)
- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Auburn University (2020)
His research focuses on optimizing flight control systems for vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) configurations, including tilt-wing and lift-plus-cruise aircraft. He has pioneered explicit model-following control architectures and conducted extensive flight testing of fixed-wing, multi-rotor, and rotorcraft platforms. His work emphasizes pilot-in-the-loop simulation and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
Recent publications highlight advancements in trajectory control systems for vectored thrust configurations and total energy-based control designs. These contributions advance safety and efficiency in next-generation VTOL aircraft.
- Gavin Research Fellow (2020-2024)
- Lead of 1st-place Auburn Vertical Flight Team (2023)
Dr. Comer advises on advanced aerospace systems and teaches MAE 5020: VTOL Flight Dynamics and Control. His lab focuses on integrating simulation and experimental testing for novel aerospace configurations.
