Joseph Heathcott is a Professor affiliated with Princeton University through the Princeton-Mellon Fellowship (2016). He holds a Ph.D. in History and American Studies and an M.A. in History from Indiana University, and a B.A. in History and Political Theory from Washington University.
His research examines metropolitan cultures, institutions, and environments through comparative and global perspectives, with emphasis on public scholarship and civic engagement. Key focus areas include urban design history, community-driven planning, and the sociopolitical dimensions of urban spaces.
Professor Heathcott has received prestigious fellowships including:
