Joseph Guarnaccia, MD, is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Consulting Neurologist at Yale School of Medicine's Stress Center. With over 30 years in neurology, he previously directed the Yale Multiple Sclerosis Treatment Program before establishing private MS treatment centers in Derby, CT and Warwick, RI. His research focuses on MS therapies, mindfulness for insomnia, cannabis for chronic pain, and stress effects on substance use disorders. He collaborates on clinical trials for alcohol and opioid use disorders.
Education: MD from University of Oklahoma (1987). Board certified in Neurology (1995) and Internal Medicine (1990).
Research interests include multiple sclerosis treatment innovation, pain management strategies, neurology of stress responses, and translational research bridging clinical neurology with behavioral health. His work has explored immunomodulatory therapies, long-term drug efficacy in MS, and novel approaches to neurodegenerative disease management.
