Norman Werdiger, MD is a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine and serves as Assistant Chief of Neurology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is affiliated with Yale Medicine and practices at the Yale Neurosciences Institute.
Dr. Werdiger received his MD from Cornell University in 1977. He completed his post-graduate years 1 and 2 residency training at Jefferson University Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA in 1979, and his post-graduate years 3-5 residency training at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC in 1982. He is trained in both neurology and internal medicine.
Dr. Werdiger's research and clinical interests focus on neurological complications of medical illness, cerebrovascular disease, dementia, and public health. He has particular expertise in Memory Disorders & Cognitive Neurology, Neuromuscular Medicine, Movement Disorders, Stroke, and Headache. He is excited about promising research that is expected to lead to better treatments, including clinical trials for patients with Alzheimer's Disease. As he states, "As the result of advances in medical and neurological research, technology and pharmacology, we now have effective prevention and treatment strategies for many potentially disabling disorders, including acute stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and migraine headaches."

Dr. Werdiger has been a practicing clinical neurologist since 1982 and is the recipient of multiple teaching awards. He serves as Assistant Chief of Neurology at Yale New Haven Hospital, indicating leadership responsibilities in addition to his clinical and teaching roles.
