Professor Gregory's research focuses on the European tradition, with particular emphasis on the Italian and Northern Renaissance periods. His work explores interdisciplinary connections between the metaphysical commitments of science, philosophy, and art in European cultural development from ancient to modern times. He has published extensively on Renaissance artists like Pieter Bruegel and Leonardo da Vinci, as well as contemporary art practices.
His recent publications and exhibitions demonstrate a consistent engagement with Renaissance art interpretation and contemporary global art dialogues. Notable projects include co-curating exhibitions such as Half the Sky: Women in the New Art of China and Ink Not Ink, which highlight cross-cultural exchanges in modern Chinese art practices.
