Joseph Badillo is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Seton Hall University. He joined the faculty in 2017 after postdoctoral research with Nobel Laureate David MacMillan at Princeton University. His research focuses on organic synthesis, catalysis, and photochemistry, with applications in pharmaceuticals and natural products.
Education: B.S. in Chemistry from California State University, Long Beach (2008); Ph.D. in Chemistry from University of California, Davis (2014). His lab has received grants from the Sloan Foundation and Sloan Foundation, and he has been recognized with awards including the NSF LEAPS-MPS Award (2021) and NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship (2014).
Professional service includes leadership roles in academic committees and the North Jersey ACS Organic Topical Group. He teaches advanced courses like Theoretical Organic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry for ACS Majors. His lab actively engages in student research, exemplified by grants awarded with advisee Orion Cruz.
