Josefa Fernandez Perez

Josefa Fernández Pérez is a Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Faculty of Physics and the Materials Institute (iMATUS). She holds a doctorate from USC (1984) with a thesis on thermodynamic properties of liquid mixtures. Her research focuses on nanomaterials, photonics, and soft matter, particularly in tribology and lubricant additives. Key areas include the development of environmentally-friendly lubricants, high-pressure thermophysical properties, and nanocomposite additives for electric vehicle applications. She leads the NaFoMat research group and contributes to the Strategic Grouping in Materials (AEMAT). Her work bridges materials science with engineering applications, emphasizing sustainable and high-performance lubrication solutions.
