MARIA JESUS GARCIA GUIMAREY is a contracted researcher at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC), affiliated with the Faculty of Physics and Department of Applied Physics. She works within the NaFoMat research group focused on nanomaterials, photonics, and soft matter, and is associated with the iMATUS Materials Institute and the AEMAT strategic R&D grouping.
- Doctorate in Materials Science (2019, Cum Laude, Extraordinary Doctorate Award)
- BS in Chemical Engineering (2014, USC)
- MSc in Renewable Energies (2015, San Pablo CEU University)
Her research focuses on thermophysical characterization of nanolubricants for renewable energy applications, particularly nanoparticle additives in lubricants. She has published extensively on zirconia/ceria nanoparticles, cellulose nanocrystals, and 2D materials enhancing tribological performance.
Scientific contributions include awards for her doctorate work and participation in the IACOBUS 2016-2017 program at the University of Porto. Current work explores hybrid nanolubricants and surface engineering for industrial applications.
- Recent publications highlight trends in electrified tribology and sustainable lubricant design
- Peer-reviewed articles span 2017-2025 with consistent focus on nanoparticle-enhanced fluid dynamics
Recognized through grants from the Galician government, including ED481B-2019-015 for postdoctoral training. Collaborations include researchers from Portugal and the UK.
