Josef Klaus Schellander

Josef Klaus Schellander serves as a Contract teacher for trombone (instrumental music education & IGP), brass didactics, and brass chamber music within the Department of Wind & Percussion Instruments at Mozarteum University. He has held concurrent teaching positions at the Mozarteum since 1990 and the Salzburg Music Academy since 1989, establishing a sustained career in music pedagogy.

His academic training encompasses bass trombone studies in artistic and pedagogical contexts at both Mozarteum University and the Berlin University of the Arts. Professionally, Schellander founded the Salzburg Brass Consort, performing extensively at the Salzburg Festival while collaborating with ensembles including Camerata Academica Salzburg and Neuschwanstein Musical Theater. His international solo career spans domestic and foreign stages, complemented by continuing education in biofeedback, Alexander Technique, and autogenic training to enhance teaching methodologies.

His professional focus centers on brass performance disciplines, with primary interests in brass instrument performance, music education, chamber music, trombone performance, and brass didactics reflecting his dual expertise as performer-educator.
