Dr. Jose Dubeux is an Associate Professor of Forage Management at the University of Florida's North Florida Research and Education Center (NFREC). He holds a B.S. (1990) and M.S. (1995) in Agronomy from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), and a Ph.D. (2005) in Agronomy from the University of Florida. His career includes roles as an Assistant Professor at UFRPE (1997–2013) before joining UF. He specializes in forage agronomy, nutrient cycling, and sustainable grazing systems.
Research interests focus on forage-legume integration, nitrogen dynamics, and pasture management. He has advised 33 graduate students (16 PhD, 17 MS) and co-advised 61 others. Awards include the Paul Harris Award (2003, 2004), Robert F. Barnes Award (2004), and recognition for his 2005 dissertation. His work addresses livestock systems, soil health, and climate resilience.
Key publications highlight grass-legume mixtures, rhizoma peanut management, and sustainable nitrogen practices. He collaborates on projects like the Forage-Based Heifer Development Program and silvopastoral systems, emphasizing practical solutions for agricultural sustainability.
