He holds adjunct roles at the University of Edinburgh and others. His research explores nutritional impacts on animal production, health, and environmental sustainability, spanning monogastric and ruminant livestock. He leads teaching in animal nutrition, feed technology, and global agricultural systems.
Education: PhD in non-digestible oligosaccharide effects on young pigs (Wageningen University, 1998), MSc in Animal Sciences (Wageningen, 1993).
Research interests include nutritional sensitivity of immunity to parasites, gut microbiota dynamics, and sustainable feed alternatives. He has advised over 17 PhD/MSc students and secured ~£20M in grants, including projects on plant-based parasite control, rapeseed utilization, and GHG mitigation.
