Jorma Laaksonen is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Aalto University (School of Science). His research focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and multimedia systems, with notable contributions to cross-lingual evaluation, hyperspectral imaging, and audio-visual attention mechanisms. He holds a Doctoral degree in Engineering and Technology from Helsinki University of Technology (1997).

Recent work includes cross-cultural language modeling, efficient text-to-video retrieval, and open-world video instance segmentation. He leads the Lecturer Laaksonen Jorma group and actively participates in editorial roles and doctoral thesis evaluations.
