Jorge Sandoval is a Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Costume for Performance at the London College of Fashion (UAL) and an Adjunct Professor in the Drama Department at the University of Lethbridge, Canada. He holds a Doctor of Arts from Aalto University's Department of Film, Television and Scenography, and a BFA in Art History/Studio Art alongside an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies. His work bridges design, education, and research, focusing on performance costume’s intersection with social themes like masculinities, drag, and digital culture.
Professional Experience: Sandoval served as resident costume designer/educator at The Banff Centre (2005–2015), mentoring global design professionals. He designed costumes for entities like the National Ballet of Canada and Ballet Mannheim. His research engages with 'Costume in Focus' (Aalto), LCF's Research Hub, and UAL’s Performing Dress Lab, exploring how costume mediates identity and everyday life.
Publications emphasize theoretical frameworks around costume’s role in societal narratives. While no specific grants are cited, his mentorship at Banff underscores his pedagogical contributions. Collaborative projects and freelance design work further highlight his transdisciplinary approach.
