Jorge Carrillo Molina

Dr. Jorge Carrillo Molina is a Senior Principal Investigator and head of the Immunology Group (IgG) at IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute. He also serves as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at AlbaJuna Therapeutic, a spin-off company focused on developing broadly neutralizing proteins against HIV-1 for cure strategies. His research spans immunology, virology, and biotechnology, with a focus on B-cell biology, HIV pathogenesis, and antibody-based therapies.

Education: Obtained a Biological Sciences degree from the University of Córdoba (2000), followed by doctoral training at the Immunobiology Laboratory for Research and Diagnostic Applications (LIRAD-BST). Conducted postdoctoral research at IrsiCaixa, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and the Barcelona Centre for International Health Research (CRESIB).

Research Interests: Investigations into B-cell dysfunction in HIV-1 infection, development of broadly neutralizing antibodies, SARS-CoV-2 models, and protein synthesis mechanisms. His work combines experimental immunology, virology, and translational biotechnology to address global health challenges.

Publications: Recent work includes studies on HIV control mechanisms, SARS-CoV-2 mouse models, and plant-based production of anti-HIV proteins. These contributions highlight his expertise in both fundamental and applied research.
