Jorge Carlos Guerrero

Jorge Carlos Guerrero is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ottawa. He specializes in Latin American literature, with a focus on modern and contemporary fiction, cultural theory, and the intersection of literature, history, and politics.

• Education: Ph.D. and M.A. in Latin American Literature from the University of Toronto; B.A. in Spanish and French.

Research interests include:

• Contemporary Latin American fiction and its political dimensions.
• Cultural and literary theory, particularly in intercultural contexts.
• Autobiographical writing and intellectual history.
• Diaspora and exile narratives in Latin American literature.
• Transculturation in colonial art and literature.
• Comparative studies between Latin American and global literatures.

Recent publications address Rodrigo Rey Rosa’s global literary engagement, postmodern parody in Latin American fiction, and interdisciplinary analyses of Argentine and Southern Cone literatures. He has supervised research on topics like Central American literature, Latin American Boom novels, and diaspora representations.

Teaching roles include courses on 21st-century Latin American novels, cultural analysis tools, and intercultural research methodologies.
