Jorg Heukelbach

Jorg Heukelbach is a Professor in the Department of Tropical Health within the College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences at James Cook University. With over 117 publications spanning more than 15 years, his research focuses on tropical infectious diseases, particularly neglected tropical diseases in Brazil and other tropical regions.

His research interests include tropical parasitology, epidemiology of neglected tropical diseases, and public health interventions in resource-limited settings. Dr. Heukelbach has extensively studied leprosy, tungiasis (jigger flea), schistosomiasis, and other parasitic infections with particular attention to spatial epidemiology, disease control strategies, and social determinants of disease.
