Prof. Jordi Arbiol is an ICREA Professor at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), leading the Advanced Electron Nanoscopy Group. He holds affiliations with CSIC, BIST, and ALBA Synchrotron as Scientific Coordinator of the Joint Electron Microscopy Center (JEMCA). Previously, he served as ICREA Professor and Scientific Supervisor at ICMAB-CSIC (2009-2015).
- Education:
- PhD in Physics (2001), Universitat de Barcelona (UB), awarded European Doctorate and PhD Extraordinary Award.
His research focuses on advancing electron microscopy for atomic-scale analysis of nanomaterials, particularly in quantum structures, plasmonics, and energy systems. Key themes include single-atom recognition, in-situ experiments, and correlating structural/chemical properties with physical behaviors.
