Jordan Tustin

Dr. Jordan Tustin is an Associate Professor at the School of Occupational and Public Health, Toronto Metropolitan University, with a strong academic and professional background in epidemiology and public health. He holds a PhD and MHSc in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto, a BASc in Occupational and Public Health Safety from Toronto Metropolitan University, and an HBSc in Honours Biology from the University of Ottawa. He is a certified public health inspector and a graduate of the Canadian Field Epidemiology Program (FETP).

His research spans several critical areas in public health, including:

• Communicable disease epidemiology
• Field epidemiology and outbreak investigation
• Vaccine hesitancy and adverse events following immunization
• Global health emergency response
• Environmental and food safety
• Health communication and promotion

Dr. Tustin has contributed to major international health crises, including responses to the Ebola epidemics in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the H1N1 pandemic in Mexico and Nunavut, and polio eradication efforts in Cameroon. His work has been recognized through prestigious awards, such as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and a CIHR Public Health Policy Fellowship.

He is actively involved in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with courses in epidemiology, food safety, and health promotion. While currently not supervising MSc students in 2025–2026, he has a history of mentorship, evidenced by the Outstanding Mentor Award from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
