Dr. Jordan Tama is a Professor in the Department of Foreign Policy and Global Security at American University's School of International Service. He also serves as a Principal at Bridging the Gap, Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and Faculty Fellow at the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies.
His academic credentials include a B.A. from Williams College and M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.
Tama's research examines U.S. foreign and national security policy processes, with emphasis on polarization, bipartisanship, presidential-congressional dynamics, economic sanctions, and policy-relevant research translation. He actively bridges academic scholarship and policymaking through international talks and media engagement.
His recent publications reveal evolving trends in foreign policy scholarship, particularly how polarization challenges bipartisan consensus while commissions drive national security reform during crises.
