Jordan MacKenzie is an Assistant Professor in the Corcoran Department of Philosophy at the University of Virginia. She previously held positions at Virginia Tech and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the NYU Center for Bioethics. Her research focuses on normative ethics, feminist philosophy, moral psychology, and bioethics, particularly examining ethical issues in self-knowledge, survivor guilt, and end-of-life obligations. She earned her Ph.D. from UNC Chapel Hill (2017) and B.A. from Queen's University (2011).
Her work spans topics including self-deception as moral failure, caregiving ethics, and the ethical implications of humor. She teaches courses in moral philosophy, bioethics, and feminist philosophy, including PHIL 3720: Contemporary Ethics. MacKenzie has received awards for advising and mentorship, reflecting her commitment to student development.
Her publications appear in leading journals like Philosophical Studies, Bioethics, and Journal of Moral Philosophy. Ongoing projects explore AI ethics, grief, and relational obligations.
