Jooyeon Rhee is an Associate Professor of Asian Studies and Comparative Literature at The Pennsylvania State University, holding the Dorothy W. Gilpatrick University Endowed Fellow in the Humanities. She serves as Director of the Institute for Korean Studies and Director of Undergraduate Studies. Her work focuses on modern Korean and Japanese literature/film, gender studies, colonial history, diaspora, and food studies.

Her research explores intersections of nation, gender, and colonialism, with a particular emphasis on transnational frameworks.
