Dr. Joost Kluiver is a Researcher at the Department of Pathology and Medical Biology, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen. His research focuses on the role of non-coding RNAs (including miRNAs and lncRNAs) in B-cell lymphoma pathogenesis, particularly their contributions to oncogenesis and therapeutic resistance. He collaborates with the Molecular Oncology (MO) and Personalized Cancer Treatment (PCT) groups at the UMCG.
Key research themes include miRNA regulation in cancer, molecular mechanisms of lymphoma progression, and the application of genomic profiling for diagnostic and prognostic purposes. Dr. Kluiver’s work spans experimental studies (e.g., CRISPR screens, molecular biology) and clinical translational research (e.g., circulating tumor DNA analysis).
His recent publications highlight investigations into miRNA-dependent resistance to anti-hormonal therapies, molecular profiling of Hodgkin lymphoma, and the diagnostic utility of lncRNAs in elderly patients. Notably, he has explored interactions between MYC oncogenes and non-coding RNAs in lymphoma development.
Funding includes grants from Lymph&Co, and he contributes to multidisciplinary initiatives like the University Medical Center Groningen Molecular Tumor Board (UMCG-MTB). His work bridges basic science and clinical oncology, addressing unmet needs in lymphoma diagnosis and treatment optimization.
