Jonny Crocker is an Assistant Research Professor at Emory University's Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health. His research focuses on global health, safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and implementation science, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. He has expertise in evaluating water quality monitoring systems, cost-effectiveness of sanitation interventions, and scaling-up public health programs like the Systems Analysis and Improvement Approach (SAIA) for HIV prevention. His work often involves interdisciplinary collaboration, combining geospatial analysis, economic evaluations, and community engagement.
- Education: PhD (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), MSEE (UNC Chapel Hill), BS (Tufts University)
- Teaching: PUBH 510 - Cost Analysis
- Key Projects: SAIA-SCALE in Mozambique, community-led total sanitation studies in Ghana/Ethiopia, water quality laboratory accessibility in Colombia
Dr. Crocker's research emphasizes translating evidence into actionable strategies for sustainable health systems. He has published extensively on topics such as the economic evaluation of nutrition interventions, the role of teachers in sanitation promotion, and the sustainability of participatory sanitation programs.
His recent work includes analyzing the long-term maintenance of SAIA programs post-funding and assessing the impact of cyclones on maternal and child health services in Mozambique. He advocates for rigorous implementation science methodologies to bridge gaps between research and practice in global health.
