Jonathan Wirsich

Jonathan Wirsich is a Researcher and MRI Operational Manager at the Center for Biomedical Imaging (CIBM) of the University of Geneva, serving within the Cognitive and Affective Neuroimaging Section since his March 2023 appointment by CISA.

His academic foundation includes a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (2013) and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Aix-Marseille University (2016), completed at the Centre de Résonance Magnétique Biologique et Médicale (CRMBM) under Professor Maxime Guye. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research from 2016-2018 at the CONNECTlab within the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, working with Professor Sepideh Sadaghiani, followed by a research scientist position in the Epilepsy and Brain Networks group at Geneva University Hospitals under Professor Serge Vulliémoz starting in 2019.

Dr. Wirsich specializes in multimodal neuroimaging data fusion, particularly simultaneous EEG-fMRI and diffusion MRI, to investigate dynamic and static properties of whole-brain networks. His work bridges cognitive neuroscience, computational methodology, and open science practices, with core emphases on functional/structural connectivity analysis and translational applications. He actively supports the scientific community through end-to-end guidance from experimental design to data analysis.

Based at the University of Geneva's Brain Behaviour Laboratory, he contributes to CIBM's mission through operational management of 3T MRI facilities and collaborative research in neuroimaging innovation.
