Professor Jonathan V. Dauber, affiliated with the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University, is a leading scholar in Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah. He teaches courses spanning the historical evolution of Jewish mystical traditions from late antiquity to the modern era.
- Education: BA in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and History of Ideas from Brandeis University; PhD in Jewish Mysticism from New York University
His research focuses on the interplay between Kabbalah and Jewish philosophy, Jewish messianism, and the emergence of Kabbalah as a literary tradition. He has authored two major works on esotericism and secrecy in Kabbalistic literature.
Dauber's recent courses include Secrecy in Jewish Thought, Introduction to Hasidic Thought, and Messianism in Kabbalah & Hasidism. He is currently preparing a translation and commentary on Sefer ha-Bahir for publication.
