Prof. Dr. Jonathan Reinert is a Professor of Church History and Ecumenics at Reutlingen Theological College since winter semester 2022/23. His academic work spans the Late Middle Ages, Reformation, and Early Modern Period, with a focus on prayer cultures, piety, and ecumenical theology. He has held significant roles including Managing Director of the Evangelical Federation of Württemberg (part-time, 2015–2022) and Research Associate at the Institute for Late Middle Ages and Reformation at the University of Tübingen (2018–2022).
- Education: Studied Protestant Theology at the Universities of Jena, Göttingen, and Tübingen (2008–2015), followed by a doctoral fellowship at the University of Jena (2015–2018).
- Research: Leads contributions to the EU-funded COST Action CA23143 (PRAYTICIPATE) on prayer cultures in late medieval and early modern Europe. His work explores the role of prayer in societal communities, medieval spirituality (e.g., Francis of Assisi, Bonaventura), and the history of Christianity.
- Commitments: Member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Medieval Studies Association, advisory staff member at the Institute of Denominational Studies Bensheim, and active in worship and preaching in churches.
- Memberships: Luther Society, Association for Reformation History, Medievalists' Association, International Society for Theological Medieval Studies, and others.
