Jonathan H. Klein is an Associate Professor at the Southampton Business School (University of Southampton) in a part-time role since 2019. He holds a BSc in Physics with Mathematics, an MSc in the Physics of Ion Implantation & Radiation Effects in Materials, and a PhD in Decision-Making and Research Gaming. His research focuses on problem structuring methods (PSMs), healthcare delivery optimization, evidence-based decision-making, and knowledge sharing in professional communities. He is affiliated with the Centre for Risk Research, CORMSIS, Centre for Healthcare Analytics, and the Centre for Resilient Socio-Technical Systems.
Current teaching includes the postgraduate module Managing Complexity, Uncertainty and Subjectivity (MANG6515), which covers soft systems methodology (SSM) and strategic options development (SODA). Recent research projects include MRC-funded work on improving maternal and child health services in Brazil and EPSRC-funded studies on non-participation in higher education.
Prominent publications address IT investment valuation, performance measurement frameworks, and healthcare policy implementation. Klein supervises PhD student Huw Rhys Davies in Business Studies & Management.
