Stephan Onggo is a Professor of Business Analytics at the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. He holds roles as the Associate Dean for Internationalisation and is a member of CORMSIS and the Centre for Healthcare Analytics. With a PhD in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore and an MSc in Operational Research from Lancaster University, his research focuses on simulation methodologies, real-time decision making via digital twins, and applications in healthcare, supply chains, and disaster management.
His current research explores multi-fidelity simulation optimization for digital twins, behavioral modeling through elicitation methods (e.g., serious games), and hybrid modeling techniques. He collaborates with organizations like Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Ford Motor Company, and Rolls Royce. Stephan has held roles including Associate Editor for the Journal of Simulation, Gambrinus Fellow at TU Dortmund, and external examiner at the University of Bath.
He teaches modules such as Simulation Modelling and Behavioural Operations. His awards include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and Gambrinus Fellow. He supervises multiple PhD students and leads research projects funded by the EPSRC, including improving community resilience through operational research.
Stephan’s work bridges academia and industry, emphasizing practical applications of simulation in complex systems. His external roles include keynote speaking and editorial responsibilities, reflecting his leadership in the field.
