Professor Jonathan Harris KC (Hon) is a Professor of International Commercial Law at King's College London's Dickson Poon School of Law. He previously held roles at the University of Birmingham and University of Nottingham. His research focuses on private international law and trusts, with notable works including co-editing Dicey, Morris and Collins on The Conflict of Laws and founding the Journal of Private International Law. He advises governments on legal matters and practices as a barrister at Serle Court Chambers, specializing in cross-border disputes.
Education: Prior academic roles include Reader at Nottingham (2000–2001) and Lecturer at Birmingham (1995–2000). His expertise spans trust law, conflict of laws, and EU succession regulations. He contributed to Jersey's firewall legislation and advised the UK Ministry of Justice on the EU Succession Regulation.
Research Interests: Private international law, trusts, offshore jurisdictions, and EU legal harmonization. His recent work analyzes the Hague Trusts Convention and jurisdictional challenges in international trusts litigation. He regularly publishes in Trusts and Trustees and Journal of Private International Law.
