Dr. Jonathan Gruhler is a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Sociology at Goethe University Frankfurt. His current project, RISS Project No. 3, investigates the intergenerational transmission of work-family trajectories in Germany using the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP). He examines how familial and societal factors shape social structures, with a focus on East vs. West Germany disparities.
He holds a doctorate from the Max Weber Institute for Sociology at Heidelberg University (2024), where his dissertation explored social inequalities through analyses of sporting behaviors and time use. His research interests span social inequalities, family sociology, work-family dynamics, and health-related social behaviors. Gruhler’s work integrates quantitative methodologies to address questions of social stratification and life course patterns.
His publications include studies on evening work’s impact on couple time, health’s role in partnership development, and partner market dynamics across life stages. He collaborates with institutions like the Federal Statistical Office and contributes to interdisciplinary analyses of German societal trends.
