Prof. Dr. Daniela Grunow is a Professor of Sociology specializing in Quantitative Analyses of Social Change at Goethe University Frankfurt's Institute of Sociology, within the Faculty of Social Sciences. She serves as the spokesperson for the RISS (Reconfiguration and Internalization of Social Structure) research group and coordinates projects addressing multidimensional social change, gender ideologies, and labor divisions. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical research, focusing on gender norms, family policies, and social integration. Grunow leads the DFG-funded HISTOBIAS project analyzing historical/cross-cultural bias via NLP and participates in the FGZ’s research on social cohesion. She also oversees the RISS project on reconfigured social structures and their societal impacts.
Her research spans over two decades, with key contributions in gender ideologies across Europe, labor-market inequalities, and the internalization of social structures. Notable projects include analyzing Twitter discourse on refugee solidarity (2023) and examining couples' ideological pairings in housework dynamics (2025). Grunow’s interdisciplinary approach integrates sociology, political science, and computational methods to address contemporary societal challenges. She holds grants from DFG, BMBF, and the ERC, including the €2.5M APPARENT project (2011–2016).
