Jonathan Fennell is a Professor of the History of War and Society at King’s College London, holding a joint position in the Defence Studies and War Studies Departments. He earned a Doctorate in Modern History from the University of Oxford and has held roles as Director of Research at the Defence Studies Department and Co-Director of the Sir Michael Howard Centre for the History of War. His research focuses on the history of Britain and the Commonwealth, particularly the transnational history of the Second World War. He has authored books like Fighting the People’s War (2019), which won multiple awards, and is working on a three-volume WWII trilogy with global publishers. Fennell’s work integrates military, social, and cultural histories, emphasizing marginalized narratives and experiential perspectives.
